The New Duke of Albuquerque

Albuquerque - After State District Court Judge Linda Vanzi struck down provisions in the Albuquerque City Charter term limiting Mayors, Marty Chavez announced at his press conference that he would not run for an unprecedented third term as mayor, but rather, declare himself “The New Duke of Albuquerque.”

“Yeah, I figured, why bother running when my loyal subjects would prefer I just reign in perpetuity?” Chavez asked.

We at SWOP could not be more pleased by the prospect of a Marty Chavez Dukeship. Marty the Dukestor will finally restore the Spanish colonial heritage in all its glory to our lovely Duke City, and solve all of our problems.

One question Marty, can we have a seat on your roundtable?

7 Tell us what you think:

Great idea! Marty as a duke and arranged marriages! It'll save me the time from voting and looking for a babies daddy!

Tomas, you crack me up! I wonder what Marty's royal crest will look like? Maybe that could be a SWOP youth project. ;-)
